I think it is Don Wilson. I've read that "The Daily Planet" team was a collaboration between Don Wilson and Peter Amft, they did numerous album covers together.
I agree with you. When this was being auctioned off, there was a Byrne She-Hulk cover that was being offered, as much as I love Byrne's work, this one just stood out.

It's always cool coming across past owners. I agree, McLeod inks on this page/story is exceptional. I am also a fan of Sienkiewicz's art that was influenced by Neal Adams.
I requested a reserve when I submitted a couple pf pieces. They weren't able to, so I took it off.
