DescriptionI really can't say more about Seth Fisher than I already have in previous posts. His work paved the way for guys like me...one of my biggest influences and a guy who absolutely put himself into every page he drew. This is one of my favorite pages of the entire run. I love the steam coming out of Commissioner Gordon's ears...and the bottom panel is probably one of the (if not the) most iconic Batman shot in the whole run. Really proud to add this to my Seth Fisher Batman collection. Thanks to Seth's mom Mrs. Sheridan for keeping in touch with me all these years and letting a few pieces go. I hope me bragging about Seth gets more people exposed to his work. I'm happy I found his work early to guide me some in my own art and am privileged that his mom has been so generous with her time and thoughtful in her interactions with me over the years since he passed. UPDATE: I finally got to meet Seth's mom Vicki Sheridan in person! Like I mentioned above Mrs. Sheridan has been so sweet to me over the years ...writing thoughtful emails...and dealing with my rambling ones about Seth's work. It was a real treat getting to meet her in person, tell her what her son's work means to me (this time in person) and have dinner with her family. I got to pile through boxes of Seth's originals...it's impossible to explain all the fun and charm and meticulous detail that went into his work...the pages in person are just so incredible. Getting to hold the original art that guided and inspired me was surreal. The whole experience was just wonderful. Thank you Mrs. Sheridan, Mr. Sheridan, and Tyler for having me over for dinner and for one of the coolest experiences of my life. Social/Sharing |

And can we talk about his architecture? Love it.Yeah! I had a long talk w/ Vicki in person on why the architecture is just so great. Seth didn't just 'know' perspective....he knew it and then designed a city with it...not design like most of us guys do trying to hit a deadline...but actually developed the architecture to create an aeshthitic for his Gotham. Plus, just on the technical side of perspective... just went out of his way to do the most complicated shots...never cutting corners. I could look at his stuff for days and days (and I'm sure probably have by now). Speaking of designing an architecture style...his Flash Time Flies story is something completely different but equally complex ...if not more so. Just mind blowing stuff.

Yeah, that's a thing of beauty. What a page! It was fun seeing it in person at Comicpalooza.
