I added a picture of it pulled back in additional images just now, Paulo cast the light perfectly framing bizarros face and hands.
I feel on this one Vin went deep in his bag as the kids say. As a piece of art from the series this is up there with the very very best. Stunner.
LOVE seeing this finished. What an honor being in a line up of true greatness.
Yeah man, I love that about it. I've used it on some of the bizarro versions I've done too. Also, he drew my slight redesign of Bizarro, and of course he drew the hair a million times better than me. Sight. Also, that fucking Vader avatar....that's unreal man.
Thanks, brotha! I got to fly out and meet Quitely for four days while he was in California and it was the perfect time as I just landed the Bizarro gig. Trying to push myself and always falling short of the guys I look up to is a fun challenge. The thing is they aren't catchable, and I know that, they are more like a mirage than a level to reach, bc every time I get better I notice a whole new set of things they've already mastered. But...stilll...I try.
Oh man, you got some killer pieces in your collection! If you're in San Antonio we should hang when I don't have deadlines, i live in Bulverde!
Thanks, man! I see you have two Earth 2 pages. That means one is tradable right? Haha. (But let me know).
Without you and your guidance and advice, and help when my family has needed it, I wouldn't have the knowledge or collection or be in the position I am today. Thank you for all of that and for everything else you do. So many times when I call your first gut reaction, literally before I speak, is "don't do it", instinctively knowing I'm calling about some piece of art. But, every so often, on the right pieces, the warnings drop and we geek out as collectors excited about the opportunity to aquire some piece of art...those are the best conversations...and that time and care and passion you give us is why you're respected and liked and loved (in my case) by so many people in the hobby, Felix.
Frank Miller meets Frank Quitely. Our two favorites combined into one. Vin absolutely knocked it out of the park.
This one is a HOMERUN! Love this shot and the little headshots at the bottom are a wonderful addition. Congrats, Joe!
And also "fair play", in both the literal and Irish/Scottish sense. You posted this on the Quitely board on Facebook notifying a lot of potential buyers, and certiantly bumped the price up against yourself. That's an honorable and Superman'esk approach to collecting that many of us greedy collectors don't have. Well done, Chuck, this piece couldn't have found a better or more deserving home.
What a stunner. One of the most iconic pages from one of the most iconic stories, but two icons. Absolute homerun.
My canidate to be the first X-Men page from the 00's to break the 100k mark. It gets no better. Excellent pickup.
Absolutely FANTASTIC! Such volume and incredibly delicate rendering. If you ever want to sell or trade please shoot me a message.
Super happy for you...I remember your interview on the Felix Comic Art podcast talking about maybe going after it...glad you got it, congrats!
Really incredible piece. I love her posture / attitude. As always...the attention to detail is SO GOOD....the hair...the overlapping strings on the necklace...all the way down to the drafting tap and divots on the lap board. Congrats! (I did want this BTW...on a buying freeze w a wedding coming up and hopefully house buying in the near future, congrats again!)
What a great scene...a mother flying into to save her son. It really is the culmination of the first trade...when you see 'Jupiter's Legacy' taking their roles as proper heroes/villains. Congrats!
Ha! My exact response was, "If you add those *bleeping* bats in the background Mooneyham ...I'm going to go in and add his dead parents in the foreground." The threat didn't work.
Oh man! If only you could have been there for the arguments and one-upmanship going down in that hotel room. Mooneyham will be forever hated for breaking the 'rules' and adding those bats. Thanks for everything you do for us, Felix. It's been a fun 2+ years of Felix Comic Art...you've helped build up our individual markets...and assembled an awesome crew of artists/collectors/friends that get closer with every show. You're the best!
Glad it went to a good home & thanks for the fun back and forth! Best of luck finding that All Star Superman piece in the future, Len.
Excellent page and congrats on the nice collection!
Yeah! I had a long talk w/ Vicki in person on why the architecture is just so great. Seth didn't just 'know' perspective....he knew it and then designed a city with it...not design like most of us guys do trying to hit a deadline...but actually developed the architecture to create an aeshthitic for his Gotham. Plus, just on the technical side of perspective... just went out of his way to do the most complicated shots...never cutting corners. I could look at his stuff for days and days (and I'm sure probably have by now). Speaking of designing an architecture style...his Flash Time Flies story is something completely different but equally complex ...if not more so. Just mind blowing stuff.
Super cool page...and one of the few in the wild with Seth's Mr. Freeze on it! I love that Mr. Freeze design.
