Description

This is the second Barry Kitson page I've acquired for my collection of original comic art, but it's the first that really looks like his work. While I was thrilled to get add another Amalgam page, Dan Panosian's inks on Kitson's work on Magnetic Men Featuring Magneto overwhelms the penciller's style. But with this Flash/GL page, Kitson's distinct style really comes shining through, as he handles the pencilling and inking duties here. I love the clean linework and detail (just look at Star Sapphire's hair) I think this is a great page, picked up for a steal on eBay. It features some great ring construct action, with the two title heroes facing off against a classic GL Silver Age foe.

There are so many other reasons I love this board, though. It's vintage, with Ken Lopez's letters right on the board. It's from a comic co-written by Mark Waid, of whom I am a big fan. And in the vein of the "Brave and the Bold" subtitle of this series, it's from a team-up story. I'm a sucker for super-hero team-ups -- have been since I was a kid and immersed myself in DC Comics Presents, the original Brave and the Bold, Marvel Team-Up and Marvel Two-in-One. Given that this six-issue series featured the same two heroes each time, this doesn't quite qualify being wholly in keeping with the approach in those afore-mentioned team-up titles, one can't say this board is lacking.
