Description

So I started a fairly lofty project for my first "true" jam commission. This is the left half of the Annihilation era Guardians of the Galaxy team which includes thirteen different team members. The image goes over two horizontal 11x17 pieces of paper and was laid out in pencil by Tomi Varga; who is a recent Kubert school grad and an amazing young talent (check out his IDW work and upcoming projects.)

I chose to do the pencil layouts due to the sheer number of characters in the piece. It has proven to be kinda difficult for some artists while others are pretty comfortable working within a BIT of a constraint (they have been free to rework the characters' anatomy and even the pose, provided it occupies about the same space.)

Although I didn't set out to just get indie and creator owned artists, the piece has turned into just that. With the GoTG team being a hodgepodge of cosmic oddballs, I think it really works with so far! Almost all the current work was done at Heroescon 2015. I will update this with better pictures when it is completed. I am also leaning towards getting it colored when it is done!
