Description

A nicely animated style of cartooning from the brush of Stuart Hay. The guy in the foreground attempts to squash a fly, with unintended results. The piece appeared in This Week, the Sunday magazine of the New York Herald-Tribune, on July 7, 1935. The title of the Weare Holbrook column was "Swatters Rights", and featured three illustrations by Hay, including one that preceded this scene. See the additional image for the column tearsheet.
