Description

Mark Waid's 1990s run on The Flash marked a new high for Wally West's adventures as the Scarlet Speedster, and no story demonstrated that skill than "The Return of Barry Allen," where Wally's mentor seemingly returns from the dead, causing Wally to doubt his place among superheroes. Drawn into this story were DC's other Speed Force heroes--Jay Garrick, Max Mercury, and Johnny Quick--all of whom appear on this cover alongside Wally, literally in the shadow of Barry Allen.

The shading on Barry's cowl is done with a Zip-A-Tone sheet--a technique largely lost in today's world of computer graphics--to underscore the sense of menace Barry's return represents in this story.

This storyline was probably my favorite from Waid's run and this cover is one of it's highlights ! Congrats !
