Description

Way back in the 1980's there was a miniseries which featured Sunspot and Warlock of the New Mutants along with Madrox the Multiple Man, Siryn (in their first starring roles) and some newcomers to the Marvel Comics scene, including the one and only "Gomi".

Gomi (and Bill, never forget Bill� or poor Don) is a gloriously weird character. A perennial outsider of a kid with low self esteem, he�d rather be called �Gomi� (the Japanese word for garbage), than his given name because he hated it (It was eventually revealed to be Alphonsus Lefszycic)

Experimented on by a couple of Marvel-Girl-obsessed mad techie fanboys (one of whom was his own cousin) he ended up with a crude form of cybernetically empowered telekinetic force bolts.

Abandoned by even them he gravitated towards his fellow oddballs and outcasts, the Fallen Angels street gang.

He brought with him two other amazing charactersl Don and Bill, cybernetically enhanced LOBSTERS! Superstrong, very smart, able to survive out of water more or less indefinitely, they were his boon companions until a tragic accident deprived him of Don, who was stepped on by Devil Dinosaur� >>Sob!<<

This lovely piece from the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition is by Colleen �A Distant Soil� Doran (Who was supposed to draw the proposed sequel series, which never materialised, alas) and highlights Gomi�s innate charm, his eccentric approach to haircare and his lack of anything remotely akin to dress sense�.
