DescriptionShowcase '94 #2 - King Joker (Part Two)released by DC Comics on February 1, 1994 This page has got to be the most muscular version of Batman ever depicted in any published comic. The sheer size and over-exaggerated musculature of this Batman make Bane (arguably the most physically intimidating Bat-villain) look like an adolescent wuss in comparison. ...and check out those wings! 1994 was the height of the era for muscle-clad superheroes thanks to the likes of Rob Liefeld (who's disproportionate characters top the charts in ridiculousness), Stephen Platt, Dale Keown, etc., etc. Even the great Kelley Jones at DC established his reputation by depicting over-the-top, rippling versions of Batman and Bane for the covers of Batman and Detective. With that being said, why exactly is this muscle-bound Batman so massive and Hulk-like? Well, that is thanks to the sick and twisted mind of the Joker (and writer James Robinson). "King Joker" is a dream sequence story told through the eyes of the Joker in which the clown prince of crime reveals how the he views both himself and Batman. This is the final page of the Joker's dream and shows exactly how Joker sees Batman... "THE BATMAN... ...LOOKING EXACTLY THE SAME IN THE DREAM AS HE APPEARS IN REALITY. THE HANDSOME DEVIL." "HA HA HAHA HAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHA" written by James Robinson penciled by Christian Alamy inked by Rudy Nebres Social/Sharing |

I don't think I've ever read this story. Looking at this pic, I'm reminded of the character Prime. The 90s were an explosion of creativity in comics....some of it bad, but much of it good. Neat page

Whoa a scary, yet awesome, Batman there. The lettering definitely adds to it. Congrats!

Exceptional. I just uploaded a couple pages from the same run and I remember bidding on this one on eBay. Just... wow!

Loved the story and art! It was so weird and at the same time felt bad for Mr. J. This is an awesome piece.
