DescriptionThis piece is a commission from a friend I made through CAF. David told me he had an idea for a "Hidden Joker" piece that he wanted to do, but he didn't want to reveal much else about the piece so it would be a surprise. I trusted his vision and was blown away by the result!I love the concept of Batman as a sentinel standing watch over Gotham as a retro gangster-looking Joker lurks below hiding with a Tommy gun. I never even mentioned that one of my favorite images of Batman is Batman with a gun. I don't have another piece of art where Batman is holding a gun, but have always wanted one. So, also to my surprise, I got Batman with a gun and Joker with a gun! Double score! After seeing the finished piece, David sent me some additional photos of the creative process (see attached pics) and I am amazed at how he created the whole piece without even putting down a rough layout. He went straight to detailed images and created the whole scene seemlessly around them. Incredible details in this piece with the ivy, the textures in the buildings, etc. I have already purchased another commission from David and would highly recommend him! Social/Sharing |

Thanks so much for the opportunity Daryl! I had a blast with this!!! and thanks for an artist's 3 favorite words "complete creative control". Looking forward to getting started on the next one.

As a fan of almost anything with a Noir feel, I have to say this is pretty amazing... the details are insane!

Really like the feel of this one. Not usually a fan of a gun wielding Bat, but it works here (as it did in Dark Knight and in a few other stories). The mood of this piece really makes it work on so man levels

Tough looking piece. So much to love- and great detail work on the buildings!
