DescriptionLast of 3 "takin' it back" posts tonight and this one's a biggie!A Ron Lim Silver Surfer (SS) series page? Check! A page that actually features the Surfer? Check! A splash? Check! "Norrin Radd" and "Silver Surfer" lettered big and bold? Check! Kirby Krackle? Check! Needless to say, CAFers, I'm very excited to be posting this! I picked this up from the recent Heritage event auction, checking off a true collector goal of mine. Nice Ron Lim SS covers and/or splashes, I've found, are pretty hard to come by. They're rarely available for sale, and if they are, they don't come cheap. I didn't collect every issue of SS as a kid, but I had a number of them, primarily because they looked so good! I flipped through them all the time. I was also never a big Marvel cosmic fan until Lim's SS. His rendition of the Surfer was one of a kind, and the environments he had him soaring through really popped off the page. Those books also really made me want to pick up the NES game...which I did...and played a lot! Quick aside - it's known as being a super difficult game, and yeah, can be frustrating. But I dug it. And the music is some of the best ever done for an NES game! Back to the art. Also very cool that there's a monologue of him announcing his name and purpose. He's just gone through battling his "dark self" and after that self-reflection, comes out ready to get back to work. I'm super happy with this page, but if there's anything else I might want to pick up from the series, it'd be a page from one of my favorites (#19, #23, Annual #3) - if anyone's willing to sell or has a lead, let me know. Thanks for looking! Social/Sharing |

Great all-Surfer page, and a classic Surfer monologue. As a reader at the time, I always loved the sparkly quality that Lim gave the Surfer--which this page showcases perfectly.

As a long time fan of Ron Lim's Silver Surfer, it is extremely difficult finding any splash or cover. I know because I've been trying for quite some time. Congratulations on a centerpiece of a wonderful collection. Cheers! N.

SO killer! Not only do you have an incredible page of Surfer art, you also have some classic Ron Marz dialogue! (He talked to himself a lot!) A great addition to your collection!

I've visted this page a few times to stare at all that Ron Lim cosmic goodness and just realized I've never commented. Ron's run on Silver Surfer is my favorite run of all time. Congrats on adding this fabulous splash to your great collection.

Yup, the Ron Lim Silver Surfer run was a classic 80's staple. Maybe it's just me, but it sure feels like I tend to see far more Infinity Gauntlet art turn up in the market than pages from the actual Surfer series. Anyway, what's not to love about a great splash like this with a huge Surfer image? Congrats, man!

Congrats, man!I'd agree - definitely see more IG art out there but that may have something to do with Thanos showing up in the MCU. I do know that it's hard to find nice pages from the SS series because people really want to hold on to them - you'd think you'd see more availability knowing the number of issues that Lim did! In any case, I'm happy to have picked up this one - a great display image that I've actually ended up framing so I get to look at it all the time! Thanks for the note, Ruben!

Appreciate that, Joshua - still one of my absolute faves and I’d agree, a gem! This is one of the handful of pieces I have framed so I get to look at it all the time! Thanks, and thanks all, for comments over the last couple years!

Thanks, T, and appreciate you perusing my gallery a bit. Your comment reminded me that I gotta be better about taking out the portfolios more often and looking through my OA - need to make sure to do that to really appreciate them! Not this Lim SS one, though! I get that privilege often as it's framed and on the wall for me to gaze at lots :)

VERY sweet! This checks a LOT of boxes! I'm so "old school" that I even love seeing the ol' Zip-A-Tone, so there's another check right there!!!
