DescriptionHere is the emotionally gripping climax of this story. I remember reading this book on release day and being pretty sad when I turned to this page. I was hoping Hellboy could somehow save Esteban without killing him but boy was I wrong. Many thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Corben for making these dream pages available for purchase.Social/Sharing |

One of the joys of Mignola and Corben's Hellboy stories is how they could go off in any direction. These two went from a Manly Wade Wellman tribute to a story about vampire-fighting El Santo-like luchador brothers without missing a beat. And you are right, this is a truly memorable and strangely affecting moment in a story that probably anybody else would have steered in a bright and probably campy direction. Arriba!

What a brilliant climax to another exceptional Richard Corben fight sequence. No one ever drew punch-ups as brutally powerful as he did. Strange but until all the obituaries of the past couple of days I never made the connection between Camazotz and Bat out of Hell. The reveal when Esteban takes off his wrestler's hood is truly chilling, but even so I agree the denouement is affectingly sad. RIP Richard Corben.
