Description

Adam Hughes happened to be at Big Wow! in San Jose back in 2013, and of course I needed to grab a quick head sketch from him. As everyone knows, Adam's a stand-up guy, and doesn't even take money for these head sketches-- he donates the minimum $20 donation to charity! That day, he was sketching for the American Polish Lowland Sheepdog Association. And for an extra $10, his wife, Allison Sohn, would color it. Well, I can never let a good cause go by ... much less good art :)

Of course, I totally embarrassed myself when I went up to his table:

ANDREW: Hey!!
ADAM: Hi!
ANDREW: [typical fanboy blather]
ADAM: ... [nods bemusely]
ANDREW: So, um, can you do Stephanie Brown for me?
ADAM: ... that's like ... Batgirl, right?
ANDREW: Yeah, um, except she's ... blonde ... and ... you know what, let's just do Barbara Batgirl.
ADAM: Great.

I'll never think of that without shuddering. Still, even though it's a small piece, I'm treasuring this. One day maybe I'll get a bigger one. :)
