Original painted cover artwork for The Spectre (Vol. 3) #14 (DC - Jan., 1994) by Joe Phillips. This is an EPIC cover scene with the awesome Spectre acting as The Angel of Death sent from the LORD to command the waters of the Red Sea to engulf a doomed Pharaoh. This tale is entitled, "Wrath of God," and was brilliantly written by John Ostrander who ingeniously incorporated the Spectre and Eclipso into the Biblical narrative of Noah's Flood, the Judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah and the Exodus saga. In my opinion, the very best cover and story line of this excellent series and one of the best Spectre stories of all time, bar none. Ostrander presents the Spectre as a direct creation and force of the Almighty brought forth to execute HIS judgments.

Joe Phillips said that he painted this cover in acrylics and gouache with some airbrush and a little color pencil.

This is the character as he was originally created by Jerry Siegel and Bernard Baily way, way back in Jan. of 1940, during the golden year of the Golden-Age of Comic Books. The most God-like and most powerful of all superheroes!

The LORD doesn't play and neither does the Spectre!

Oh man...I bought this issue way back when because of this incredible cover! Sometimes on CAF, I see something like this and think "this eeds to be in a comics museum". You're a lucky guy to own such a thing!
