Description

I'm not sure when Alex Schomburg painted this colorful re-creation of the cover of Marvel Mystery Comics No. 56, but the fact that the outlines of the human figures are flesh colored instead of black means that it was most likely done after 1980, when Schomburg largely abandoned black outlines. The catalog entry by Heritage Auctions for the sale of this painting in October 2016 did not include a date for the re-creation.

As I said when I first posted this visual list of Schomburg Timely cover re-creations, I do not own any of these paintings except for the All-Select Comics No. 2 re-creation. I only posted these images because I am one of the few collectors who had access to images of almost all of the paintings in this series, as well as copies of all the promotional material which was originally published to promte the sale of the original paintings through Collectors' Showcase and Howard Lowery Gallery auctions.

This, like almost all of the Schomburg recreations, are simply stunning in their detail, color and visual impact.
