DescriptionAh, there is only one Casper Milquetoast. H.T. Webster, the great cartoonist, created his wonderfully spineless character in 1924, with the first appearance of The Timid Soul. Casper Milquetoast couldn't stand up to a weak breeze and HT Webster portrayed his trials and tribulations to an adoring audience for two decades. Most of Webster's originals of The Timid Soul are housed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, in their archives, but I'm very happy to have this wondeful little ink and watercolor piece. The piece dates from 1941 and is from Murry Harris' collection.Social/Sharing |

Very nice! The color adds a very nice nostalgic feeling to the piece.
