I've become a big fan of Raul Trevino after first seeing his work on Instagram. I've been following him now for a year or so and really love his beautiful inkwork, possibly best represented with his daily sketches during Inktober, a social media drawing challenge which takes place during October.

I stopped by his table at NYCC and picked up his book, Ink And Wheels, which features (mainly) drawings of cute girls and motorcycles and other cool vehicles. I contemplated getting a sketch from him and then decided to set up a commission on Saturday. Luckily he had some room open to take one. I opted for the character I had gone with for a few of my commissions this year, Travis Charest's Spacegirl. I felt his style would work well with the character and it surely did. His delicate lines and watercolor wash really are perfect for her.

It is also always nice when the artist is a sincere and humble person, and Raul, even with his great talent truly is, asking his fans if they themselves are artists and taking an interest in listening to them. It was also nice to hear him explain how he gets some of the effects he uses in some of his drawings as in his use of liquid mask to create speed lines.

Thanks to Raul and his girlfiend (wife?? - sorry if I am not sure!) who was so nice to deal with on setting up this sketch commission.

I love it!
