Description

Near the beginning of September Mall was posting some beautiful Kimono Girls so I contacted her about purchasing one of them. It turned out that the pieces were going to be for Swoon Gallery's upcoming Get The Lead out VIII. Needless to say I assumed there would be little chance of picking one of them up at the show because Mall has a very long wait list at the gallery. Mall offered to do a commission for me instead so I jumped at the opportunity and requested a 6x9 kimono girl. As always I let her come up with whatever she wanted for the piece. After she finished it she posted the piece on Instagram and shipped it out September 29th. That is when the waiting began. The last time I purchased a piece from Mall it only took 14 days to arrive but that was not the case with this one.

By October 25th the piece still hadn't arrived so I emailed Mall to see if by any chance she had gotten a tracking number on the piece. She said she didn't so we decided to just wait a little longer for it to arrive. Well I waited until November 5th and when it still hadn't arrived I emailed her again and she offered to make me a new piece. She said had some deadlines she needed to get done before she could start on the new piece which was fine with me. She planned on working on a new one the last week of November which gave the original piece some more time to arrive. By this time I assumed the worst and was just ready to have a piece in hand. Much to my surprise the piece finally showed up unharmed on November 16th. It took 47 days for the piece to finally show up but it was well worth the wait.

After seeing the pieces she had been working on I had little doubt she would come up with a stunning piece. What she came up with is absolutely breathtaking. The detail she put in the kimono is fantastic and I love how she included the beautiful cherry blossoms in the background. Mall always adds awesome textures to her paper before she paints. I couldn't ask for a more gorgeous piece. Mall's work is always phenomenal and this one is a welcome addition to the collection.

Absolutely beautiful! I have two pieces by Mall and am waiting on a third. As you did, I had to wait almost as long for my first two as you did for this. But the wait was worth it! This is really a gorgeous addition to your excellent collection!
