DescriptionOne of my favorite early independent comics was Planet of the Capes. It was a very entertaining take on comics, archetypes and to an extent at its end their often darkening tone.Kastra was one of the four heroes of the comic. She didn't have a clear analogue like the others on her team but after numerous readings it occurred to me that she had some similarities to Starfire as she was a form of royalty essentially, and her species seemed descended from snakes (or some reptilian species) the same way Tamaraneans evolved from feline like animals (and her outfit's Greco-Roman the same way Starfire's loosely based on Ancient Egyptian clothing). Kastra and Starfire at their basis also in a way represent joy, love and the positivity and fun of comics. Or so I feel. They're pretty good mood boards of whatever's happening in their stories. So after the longest time, finally getting a good time and opportunity I knew I had to try getting a piece of the two from good old Mr. Brandon McKinney one of her co-creators (along with Larry Young). And the duo came out spectacularly. Social/Sharing |
