Description

Original Art Page for Silver Surfer #46, published by Marvel Comics in February of 1991. This is Page 8 from the issue, from the leadup to Jim Starlin's classic Infinity Gauntlet, as Thanos has trapped the Surfer and Drax the Destroyer inside of the soul gem, and here the Surfer meets Gamora and Pip The Troll, who will bring the Surfer to meet Adam Warlock. A key scene, which features Gamora in every single panel on the page, and the Surfer in almost every panel too (7 out of 8!). Gamora has become an increasingly important and popular character, known to many from Guardians Of The Galaxy and the movies, and this is about as good a page featuring her as you're going to find. It also features her revealing to the Surfer that something is terribly wrong with his inner self and spirit, which foreshadows the Surfer learning of Galactus altering him so that he could be Galactus' Herald. The artwork is by one of the great artists of the modern age, Ron Lim. Lim has done great work on a number of titles, including Spiderman and X-Men, but is probably best-known and loved for his work on the Silver Surfer, particularly on the Thanos and Infinity Gauntlet storylines. Starlin is also one of the most legendary creators in the history of comics, who is probably best-known for his cosmic Captain Marvel / Warlock / Thanos storylines, which have received even greater attention since the blockbuster Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame movies. The piece has some slight use of whiteout and blue pencil in the word bubble areas, and has small standard hole punches on the middle left and right side edges. It is done on official Marvel Comics illustration art board which measures approximately 11" by 17".
