DescriptionVirgil Ross - Grinch and Max Drawing (MGM, c. 1990s). An outstanding drawing featuring a red-eyed Grinch and his dog companion Max, inspired by the Chuck Jones animated TV holiday special from 1966, Doctor Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This classic scene featuring the Grinch in his Santa suit was drawn by master animator Virgil Ross. Mr. Ross worked in animation for over 50 years, beginning in 1934; he spent many years at Warner Brothers, where he worked in units headed by Tex Avery, Robert Clampett, and Friz Freleng, as well as stints with DePatie-Freleng, Hanna-Barbera, and Filmation (working on Star Trek: The Animated Series and many others); he even assisted on several Disney films like The Little Mermaid. The signed drawing is on a sheet of 12 field animation paper; the Grinch has an image size of 7". Fine condition.Social/Sharing |
