Description

Nestor Redondo is an artistic hero of mine, and I've wanted an example of his fine work from the golden age of Philippine komiks for some time. Here are two pages from the 1969 story "Biyak na Bato" ("Cleft of a Rock" or "Broken rock").

Alyas Palos (Alias Eel) was a comic serial novel by brothers Virgilio and Nestor Redondo, which was first serialized in Tagalog Klasiks in 1961. The title character was a thief and a kind-hearted felon with exceptional combat and safe-cracking skills.

Panel 1: Caring didn't wait for Cristy to get her back. She immediately used judo on her.
Panel 2: Meanwhile, Gallardo was bloody. Mario was like a wild animal.
Panel 3: Until he got him beneath him. Mario: "I swear I'll kill you!" Gallardo: "Agh, older brother, listen to me."
Panel 4: Until Gallardo was forced to strike back.
Panel 5: Gallardo took advantage of the situation and stood up. Mario was still dizzy.
Panel 6: When he noticed Cristy's gun.
