Description

Jesus Redondo Roman illustrated several DAN DARE stories for the UK's EAGLE in the 1980s.

I wanted a boy/girl/monster commission to go with my other Jesus boy/girl/monster commissions, based on the 1980s Dan Dare.

Jesus did one of the three prelims of Dan Dare wearing a 1970s 2000ad Dave Gibbons-era uniform, which looked so much nicer than the utilitarian or super hero-y outfits that Dan Dare wore in the 1980s Eagle before it rebooted the story back to a 1950s vibe.

The boy and the monster, one hopes, known to most UK comic fans. The girl is Velvet O'Neill, a half-human, half-alien shapeshifter who was part of Dare's Eagles, of which O'Neill was the least interesting but on account of being a girl gets into the commission while the far more compelling character of Apsilon Stelth (a terminally-ill bounty hunter out for one last hurrah) and Temloc (double-hard mutant treen with two chips on each shoulder).
