Description

If, in the 60's, new artists joining Marvel were instructed to imitate Jack Kirby's style and pacing, those being assigned with the adventures of Nick Fury, agent of Shield, had to live under the considerably looming shadow of Jim Steranko...

After a dynamic streak by Frank Springer and a one-off formative issue for Barry Windsor-Smith, along came Herb Trimpe with a solid approach, blending his own style to a Steranko-type storytelling to very convincing effects...

With well-delineated figures and inventive panel-designs, Trimpe effortlessly jumped intp Steranko's shoes, even if for a short-time as his third issue on the series proved to be the last...

Another nice nod to Steranko comes with this flower-based seduction scene, even though, if you ask me, Laura Brown is rather tame compared to Countess Valentina Allegra De Fontaine...

And just as if I was about to forget it, on the back of this board is a very powerful blue-pen portrait of a certain jolly green giant for which Herb Trimpe was rapidly becoming the definitive artist at the time...

2 aspects of the same great artist in one go: I feel blessed!...

Wow, what a great page (front and back)! I loved Trimpe's work on this series.
