It was a bit of an experiment to have Simon add digital colors over Mike's ink washes. Safe to say, the result was a resounding success!

This drawing was completed in July 2008.

I first knew the name "Mike Vosburg" because of his work on G.I. Joe (A Real American Hero) and American Flagg back in the 1980s. After greatly admiring work by Voz posted by others on CAF in recent months, I decided I was long overdue in contacting Mike about a possible MTIO commission for my gallery. Mike gave me a list of characters he was interested in drawing, I sent him some reference and a package arrived on my doorstep quicker than you can say, "Lori Lovecraft".

Those in the know will recognize that Mike has drawn himself into this commission in the top-right corner. He said this is how it felt to deal with Marvel on occasion over the years. Gotta love an artist with a good sense of humor!

For the uninitiated, Marvel Two in One # 51 (originally drawn by Frank Miller and Bob McLeod) featured the Thing, Ms. Marvel, Wonder Man, Beast and Nick Fury battling "General Pollock" and his troops aboard the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier. Mike did a wonderful job capturing a moment of all-out action from the issue's climactic confrontation between good and evil.
