Description

So this is my commission I requested from legendary artist, Jose Delbo, a little over a month in advance of the show. This one is different, I decided to go with Teen Titans & Doom Patrol member Karen Beecher-Duncan aka BUMBLEBEE! Here’s why:

Back in December 1976, DC comics showed a black female for only two short panels in Teen Titans 45. That black woman was Karen Beecher (who would soon be Bumblebee), who only said a few words. However she had no superpowers, just a normal human. Three issues later (Teen Titans 48) they showed a black woman in a bumblebee costume with bee-themed superpowers, fighting the Titans! Of course it was Karen Beecher, but the pencil artist who did that issue and designed the costume was Jose Delbo!

That issue 48 made Bumblebee (Karen Beecher) the first black female superhero at DC Comics, so I had to get a commission of her from the artist who Co-Created her! He did a fantastic job of capturing her original design (SEE OTHER PHOTO TO COMAPRE)! This commission is India inked and colored, couldn’t ask for any better! So glad I got Delbo, he’s in his 80s, hope to meet him again in the future!

Thanks again! I’ve never seen anybody request Bumblebee from Jose Delbo; I may be the only one lol, I wonder how many people know he co-created her 🤔
