DescriptionDetective Comics #40 is technically the first Joker cover although there was no Joker appearance in that issue. Apparently Detective #40 was originally scheduled to contain Joker's first appearance until that story was re-assigned to Batman #1. I'm not sure which cover I'd rather have, but it's likely a moot question since I doubt the Tec 40 cover still exists.Note: One of the Joker balloons is original art. Three of the balloons are the original production stats made from that art. One production stat was missing so we replaced it -- Great job, Claudia! Underneath is the original pencil art, which I thought I should share with my fellow collectors (see second photo). Sincere thanks to Mitch Itkowitz & Dan Herman for offering me this. I'm thrilled and grateful to be its current custodian. Social/Sharing |

Joe, Any such envy would be quite mutual, I assure you. I'm also in awe of your knowledge and artistic discernment (not to mention your relative youth :)).

Your collection is my benchmark of “beyond awesome”. If it is a piece that you would like to have in your collection, then it is probably out of my league! 😜

Jim, congrats on getting a true grail--a Robinson Joker cover! Color me jealous. Can still remember when Jerry would tell me how he would call the printeres whenever he had a nice piece he wanted to keep and they would set it aside for him. Thank good ness he had the foresight to save so many pieces of comic history that are still aorund for all of us to enjoy!
