This page from is one of eight stand-alone stories in DC Comics Presents dedicated to Julius Schwartz, the DC editor who shepherded the Silver Age of Comics by suggesting provocative cover ideas for writers and artists to use as a springboard for interior stories. This story is written by Grant Morrison, the greatest living Silver Age comics fan. As Adam Strange dives for the spaceship controls in panel 2, the two dialogue boxes read, "This is Julie's gift to the generations-- This primary-inked promise of better worlds to come-- of kinder and more rational men and women and machines somewhere beyond the Cold War's dividing walls and hydrogen paranoias--hip to hope. To split-second decisions made for the good of all." Those words always strike me as profoundly hopeful, and fitting as Adam Strange saves Sydney, Australia from being destroyed by a Rannian Spaceship sent by the US Military to provoke a war between the USA and Rann.
