DescriptionSo, while I was speaking to (/pestering) someone for Authority pages, I asked about the possibility of a Hitch commission. I was told that he's generally ridiculously busy (as born out by the crazy schedule under which he just got the first 12 of Hawkman out, pity he's off that now) and that commission aren't really possible. But the conversation reminded this very fine person that THEY have, stored safely away, a recreation of the #1 cover. A few minutes later I received a scan and the following write-up"Bryan Hitch and Paul Neary have revisited the Authority! The artists have redone the incredible wraparound cover to Authority #1. This stunning piece is on one large 22 7/8" x 18 1/4" board, end to end artwork. The art is in immaculate condition and will be a centerpiece for any collection. The art was chosen to be revisited because the original is in a private collection (a close friend of the artist) and in all likelihood will never be released to the market. Changes have been made from the original and the art is dated below the signatures. Also from Hitch, (the piece) "is a new version of the first Authority cover (the original has never and will never be sold) which I think is much better drawn than the original"." A quick conversation later and I was the proud owner of this masterpiece, which I didn't even know existed. All the cast, extremely dynamic - what more could I ask for? It really is in immaculate condition too, and I look forward to getting this monster framed and up on the wall.
