�� Lynne Yoshii was set up in Artist Alley at Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle. It was a little late to set up a con sketch at the time, but I browsed her sketchbook and purchased a couple of the pieces. I loved the martial arts screwball comedy Ranma 1/2 in which cursed Chinese ponds cause the victims to endure unwelcome transformations. This shows Ranma while a girl and her rival Ryouga in his pig incarnation Pchan. Ranma's fiance Akane adopts the piglet as her pet without realizing the truth. Shy Ryouga enjoys the attention of a pretty girl. The artist touched it up a bit while we chatted about Rumiko Takahashi. Lynne said she drew Ranma all the time during her high school years. Takahashi won the Grand Prix at Angoul�me, France in 2019. She will preside over the 2020 festival and her originals will be displayed in a museum exhibit. The cartoonist was elected to the Eisner Hall of Fame at SDCC in 2019, too. Comics Beat sums up the work of Rumiko Takahashi in this essay.
