Description“Practically Kissing Cousins” (August, 1971)By Eddie Germano (1924 - ) 11 x 15, ink and wash on board A native Bostonian, Germano became a full-time cartoonist in 1948, at age 24, after serving in WWII. Among other positions, he worked as the editorial and sports cartoonist for the Brockton Enterprise from 1963-1990. Apollo 15 was launched on Monday, July 26, 1971. The lunar module, called Falcon, landed on the moon July 30 (Friday). The crew lifted off August 2 (Monday), returned to earth August 7 (Saturday). The cartoon is listed for a Wednesday editorial page, which could have been August 4, during the transit home, or the Wednesday after splashdown (August 11). Social/Sharing |
