Description

In 1936 Barks was working at the Disney Studios. He made nearly 400 storyboard drawings for a planned Mickey Mouse cartoon with the title "Northwest Mounted". In this story, Mickey was a mountie in Klondike, chasing the villain Peg-Leg Pete, who had kidnapped Minnie Mouse. The cartoon was never made, probably because Barks� story was considered too wild and too violent, even by 1930s Disney cartoon standards.
The Northwest Mounted storyboard drawings were originally published in Another Rainbow�s coffee table book "Mickey Mouse in Color" (1988). This particular drawing, depicting a fiery fight scene between Mickey and Peg-Leg Pete, was missing, however. It is published in the German book "Wer ist Carl Barks?" (1993) p.270.
