DescriptionYesterday I posted the 1982 cover to Dazzler #14, so tonight I thought I'd share with you an interior from Dazzler #1. Normally I'm a 'cover guy,' but I can't resist an origin page. Here we see Alison Blair's early years as an ambitious pre-law student and a talented musician. Then after graduating magna cum laude, she decides to forego any future study of the law in favor of a career as a musician, much to her father's disappointment. Man, I can relate, though with a slight variation. When I got my Master's in Music, I disappointed my parents by not continuing on with my PhD. Instead, I decided to pursue a career in music. My parents really thought a career as a music professor would be the best for me, but I wanted to be on stage, sharing my love of music. Luckily, I ended up with a nice career performing on cruise ships as a piano headline entertainer. And my parents quickly came around, as they got to come on free cruises with me, haha! Anyway, I have always been a fan of the character Dazzler (starting with X-Men #130 and whenever she pops up), and I'm really happy to own this origin page. Social/Sharing |

I can dig it, Paul. Origin pages are some of the best. I really like the flow of this one and that you really do get the gist of Dazzler's motivation. Not too different from yours, I think ;) Vintage DeFalco/JRJR goodness! Congrats!

Dazzler needs to buy a second pair of roller skates for her father. Has anyone ever seen a upset person rollerskate? Not possible. Just strap on them skates and smile. Skate little chicken wing skate.

I have seen many people upset when they fall over on rollerskates.

Ah, so the Paul P. origin is publicly revealed! Yup, origin pages are always fun and highly desired by collectors. I remember buying Dazzler #1 as a back issue 2 years after it came out, with that fantastic Bob Larkin painted cover which was so unusual for a comic book at the time. I had also already discovered the great Alfredo Alacala, and loved his inks. Great memories here!

Paul, I can certainly relate to preferring covers over pages but revealing your origin story beside Alison's is priceless!
