Description

Frederic Rodrigo Gruger as F.R. Gruger Men Seated at Table Original Art (c. 1920s). Gruger, one of the more prolific slick-magazine illustrators of his day, achieves a bracing realism in this study of a talkative gathering over a round of drinks. The publishing pedigree is undocumented; the style is consistent with Gruger's work for The Saturday Evening Post and other such showcases for popular fiction. Graphite and charcoal on illustration board, with painted white retouching. Image area, 10.5" x 7". Moderate toning and marginal staining. Very Good condition.
