Description

My collecting goal has been to get 1 page from each book I loved as a kid or 1 page from each issue of a run I loved (even though some runs have sour fill in issues). An example is I want 1 page from every Avengers issue between 115 (my first issue I bought off the stand) and issue 200 (I felt Marvel no longer cared about the title for years after around issue 200). I only horde more than one page from my 5 favorite issues. This is not only in my top 5, but is my all time favorite single issue. Now that Cinematic Marvel decided that they would base there first movie arc on this story these pages are even harder to get now. Not sure what I was thinking in the past selling/trade some pages in the past. I guess the first pages were easy to get as my buddy Brian bought them directly from Jim Starlin so I thought they grew on trees. I so regret losing those pages. I will not let another of these slip thru my hands. Thank you Jay for letting this go in our trade. It is greatly appreciated. Thank you Jim Starlin for creating such magic. I simply love this story and the art from this issue!

Loved Starlin's work and loved this issue when it came out. You bring me back to memory lane of going to 7-Eleven once a week to get the next issue, and the Avengers were my favorite.

Congrats.

I am right there with you. It was always a hard decesion on a hot summer day. Get a cherry Slurpee or one more comic. 8 )

This is ridiculously wonderful. Back in those good old days, the 'direct market' was just reaching the UK and many Marvel titles were simply not available here. I remember buying the Avengers Annual 7/MTIO annual 2 (right?) storyline at a UK 'comics mart' or something and loving the stories so much!! Sadly, i don't have any of the original art, so I am jealous but also admiring of this, and your good fortune :)

Nothing ages a collector more than naming their favorite classic stories.  But I am happy to be in this club with you.  I think AA7 and MTO2 go hand in hand and I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite between the two.  So happy that you found such a great page from your single favorite issue.  That personal connection to a piece of art makes all the difference.  Congrats buddy!

Thanks Eric and I can easily say AA7 over MTO 2 (correct Malcolm) as Starlin did the penciling in AA and only did layouts in MTO. To me the art was FAR better in AA but the overall story was both and amazing!

Great page and definitely inked by Rubinstein... Although I'm not too sure about that first Cap figure, might be Starlin.  You should ask Joe.
