Description

All-Star Squadron 5 p19 (1981).

For me the 1st and best All-Star Squadron era ended with this page!

The reasons are:
1) on the very next page the action shifts to Mexico as the next story line begins.
2) This was the final issue with Buckler/Ordway interior art

While I do very much like the excellent Gonzales/Ordway era that followed, for me it is not at the near level of perfection of what preceded it.

As I normally do :) I will mention again how amazing I think these early Ordway inks are and how well they work with Buckler's pencils

Roy Thomas packed an incredible amount into this issue; The JSA Disbanding, A Battle at the Statue Of Liberty, Introduction and partial Origin of the Danette Reilly Firebrand, and lastly the beginning of the next story line. In today's times that would take 2-3 years of monthly issues to advance a story anywhere near as far.

Wonderful page! Just started reading through all of the All-Star Squadrons recently. Had read some issues, about half of Infinity Inc. and all of Young All-Stars. Going through all three books in order : )
