This is the cover to issue #5 of the Red Sonja mini-series Revenge of the Gods (Dynamite, June 2011). I really liked this cover when I first saw it ... not only a nice depiction of Sonja but also some cool world mythology thrown in. There is Ganesha, a Hindu god from Indian mythology, and a Garuda, a legendary bird-like creature from Hindu, Buddhist, & Jain mythology. I'm fond of garudas - a 100 year-plus carved wooden Garuda from Bali sits in my library - so this painting was definitely of interest. Unfortunately the painting had already been sold; but I sent email to the owner asking about the piece, and 3 years later -when she was ready to sell - she remembered me. A big thank you to Mari & her husband Scott for letting this Sonja come to my home.
