Description

While I've long been on the hunt for more pages from the sequence that ends this story, I was thrilled to get my hands on the two pages that open it earlier this year.

After having his fortune stolen and life uprooted, Reed's been dreaming of falling. Specifically, he's been dreaming of his grandfather, who was a jumper in WWII.

I love how that dream plays out here. The opening page is bright and filled with nothing but smiles, thumbs up and blue skies. Coupled with the horizontal panels and moment-to-moment transitions, everything feels very serene and tranquil.

However, that tranquility is abruptly shattered as we turn the page and discover Reed's dream has become a nightmare. As he plummets through the air, frantically struggling to pop his chute, we can feel his terror as he wonders which will get him first. The ground below or the chaos and hellfire reigning death through the skies.
