Marvel Knights 4, Issue #4
I came across Marvel Knights 4 while browsing Barnes & Nobles the weekend Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer was released. I was in the mood for a little FF, so I pulled the first TPB off the shelf and was impressed by the Steve McNiven artwork. After flipping through, I decided to take it home for some light, pre-movie reading.
While the art was great, the story was even better. It kicked off with the Four's money manager absconding with their fortune, leaving the FF homeless and searching for regular jobs. Which in turn led to a scene in issue four where Reed arrives at his IT job, only to find a jumper on the top of the building. But, rather than use his powers to get the man down, he has a heart to heart with him instead.
It's a quiet, wonderful scene that, for my money, resonates more than the over-the-top action of superheroes saving the world. I'm always on the hunt for more pages from that sequence, so please contact me if you have one you'd be willing to part with. I'd be most appreciative.
