CRASH! ACTION!! INK!!!

Wonderful work by Immonen and Von Grawbadger. I am a sucker for shots of heroes BURSTING through ceiling glass to make a dramatic entrance. The X-Men channeling the Bat here quite well!

Thank you for sharing!

Thank you very much, Ryan!  The superheroes coming though the ceiling glass is a bit of a cliché now, but one you and I (and many others) still enjoy.

You know, A K, there are those pieces on CAF that, when you visit them, you end up swallowing your teeth in disbelief that they don't have more comments or love dolloped all over them...  THIS is one such piece.  Good heavens!  An amazing, splashy image (filled with beautiful detail and pulling off a pretty difficult angle!) followed by a tier of panels that cover a dizzying amount of narrative ground (but remain crystal clear in their storytelling): "Wolverine engages with Sabertooth, and Iceman starts in on Silver Samurai; Beast is tussling with Mystique (who gets the upper hand), but Madame Hydra is also taking aim at him!  She's about to pull the trigger when Kitty Pride phases in out of nowhere and shorts out her gun!  Whoa, wait, what?  I know, right?  Meanwhile, Lady Mastermind is up to no good..."  That's a WHOLE lot to capture (or capture cleanly, clearly, and concisely) in seven smaller panels.

Comics storytelling is, of course, a collaborative venture between reader and creators, and lots of the fun happens when the creators, faced with the space limitations they need to overcome, rely on the readers to "fill in the blanks" and link all the events together so that everything flows smoothly in the least amount of space.  The art team then earns their bacon by trying to make that work, and I can't think of a team that is better than Stuart Immonen and Wade von Grawbadger to have on your side when you're trying to tell that busy story.  Everything just flows SO smoothly.

Beautiful spread, A K!  Gorgeous work - congrats!

Wow!  I don't think I have ever received a better comment in my CAF gallery.  Thank you so much, Jason!  Immonen and Von Grawbadger really do excel in storytelling.  They are not just content to have a splash page that looks good; it must advance the story being told and even without the word balloons, the reader's eyes flow naturally through the action of the page.  No confusion here; just clarity...and excitement.  Thanks again, my friend!
