Description

I'm not going to say I saved the best for last because picking the best out of this outrageous gift package would be insulting to the giver and impossible for me, but it's ONE of my very favourites.

From the classic New Mutants 50 back in 1987, we have the New Mutants and Professor X facing off against Warlock's father, the Technarch Magus, who will stop at nothing to kill Warlock and anyone who has aided him, or got in his way.

Here we see Cypher, who has an idea on how to stop Magus, trying to revive his flattened selfsoulfriend by offering to jumpstart him with his life essence (Add your own subtext, it doesn't take much), and Warlock nobly refusing, until Carol Danvers, yes, THAT Carol Danvers, former Ms Marvel, future Captain Marvel and currently Binary in this story, offers Warlock as much energy as he needs to restore hismelf to full functionality.

(Spoiler: Cypher's plan works)

This is an issue I loved way back when; all the team members having a chance to showcase their powers against an apparently unbeatable foe, temporarily reunited with Professor X, and Cypher being smart and brave and Warlock being noble (and slightly silly), so this is particularly to be treasured!
