DescriptionI'be been looking for a definitive Cloak and Dagger piece for some time. I think I have found it. Here is the original art to Cloak and Dagger #6. It has been hand colored which is something I usually avoid but in this case I am not hating it. The color choices made in coloring it differ from the printed version and I certainly agree with the new color choices over the printed cover but I know not everyone will agree with this. Signed by Rick Leonardi, Terry Austin, Jim Shooter and Matt Web who I believe is the one who colored it. I picked this piece up at C2E2. I am really happy with a cover I'd consider among the 2 or 3 best from the entire series. See additional images for cover without overlay and published cover. I think I will see about getting a color version of the overlay made as I find the white too stark a contrast to the colors and it is not the original stat although the box art might be.Social/Sharing |

A red background is always a great choice for a comic cover, but I definitely prefer the original coloring ;) Congrats and thanks for sharing this gem!

Love Leonardi and Austin, especially on C&D--and agreed, that purple hand coloring is actually quite beautiful!

Great C&D cover! Unusual that it was colored directly on the line art. Any idea as to why it was done this way?

Wow! If I didn't have my Leonardi C&D pieces, I'd be super jealous. Heck I still am! There just aren't that many of these covers and I rarely see them pop up. Congratulations on this great score!

This rocks! Love the perspective and pose choices, and as a pure illustrator, Leonardi is truly one of the best...case in point! Hand colored pieces are rare for sure and many don't work as well, but this is truly sublime. Congrats!

Not sure how I missed commenting on this one...must have confused gushing about it at dinner with a comment on CAF! Great piece, Jeff - so glad I got to see the vibrancy of the coloring in person. Very striking.

There are so many hand-colored covers out there that I think completely ruin the art. This is not one of them. Whoever colored this did it justice. It's better than what was printed.

Agree completely. Coloring OA usually ruins it for me, but this is done with a skilled hand, and improves upon the original printed version. Great representation of C&D.
