A great commission from the late and missed Paul Ryan, a truly great artist and storyteller.

I was not the original commissioner of this one either but found it a great compromise. It is very nice and we will not have the pleasure of seeing new work from Paul anymore.

The composition is a bit busy compared with other pieces I�ve seen from him but it�s evidently due to the fact he was asked to include (too?) many characters in the piece. Seven and he makes it looks almost effortless.

His rendition of Magneto is fantastic and takes us back to the days of Avengers West Coast when Paul inked the end of John Byrne�s run and penciled the end of the Dark Scarlet Witch saga. Powerful and regal as he should be.

Then we have War Machine which he also drew very well in various titles. Not specially the best choice of opponent against the master of magnetism. I like the fact that even though his armor is static, he managed to portray his discontent at being manhandled by his foe.

The Thunder Agents is an odd choice to pair with Marvel characters but why not. I�ve always liked them since their early Wally Wood days and the later Deluxe revival. He drew them perfectly as each is distinctive and immediately recognizable.

Then we have some Kirby machinery and a castle as background to round the piece up.

Again a very busy piece but executed with the quiet and solid panache Paul Ryan was known for. I truly miss seeing his art on a regular basis.
