DescriptionThis book was one of the issues I got in a DC multi-pack my parents picked up, probably at Costco sometime in 1994. It has something like 20 comics in it, with almost as many different titles. I remember being stoked having never held so many comics at once. As it happened. this issue of Flash was in there and I remember so vividly reading it over and over again. The drama in just the cover alone made me want to read it. Maybe it was the hail of bullets spraying in every direction or the thugs in Hawaiian shirts and santa hats. Whatever it was, it always pulled me in, enticing me to re-read it, becoming one of my long-time favorites. Penciled by Alan Davis and inked by Mark Farmer, I noticed most of their other collaborations do not go for cheap, so fortunately for me it worked out for it to find it's way here. I loved the premise of the story "Christmas in July" as a fun twist on summer fun with the Santa Klaus criminals. Even though the Flash wasn't large on my radar as a kid, that is until I read this story, almost 30 years later I still enjoy the wonderfully written by Mark Waid with impressive interiors by the late-great Mike Wieringo, inked by Jose Marzan Jr. It feels really great to have this and to look at it up close and compare it to the actual book, which I still have. It takes me right back to that memorable time. Social/Sharing |

I remember a similar sitaution except I think it was a comic collecting box from Sears in the seventies. Nothing like comics to bring back great memories.
Beauty cover by the way.

Owning a unique, one-of-a-kind piece of art is amazing in itself, but what kicks it up a notch is owning the cover to a sentimental comic that brings back so many great memories. Love hearing stories like the one you told, and I'm so happy you were able to acquire this fantastic piece!

I had stopped buying the Flash a few months before this issue arrived, but had to check this one out based on the cover alone. A super memorable cover by the great Alan Davis! Congrats!
