Royal robots on the rampage to destroy 'Manchester's hardest man'! Can Big Dave foil the vile machinations of Fergie & the People's Princess and free the real Royal Family?

Thrilling stuff from Scots wunderkinde Millar and Morrison: 'Big Dave' was one of the most on-the-nose satires of mid '90s UK Loaded tabloid culture, and the highlight, for me, of the 'Summer Offensive' an 8-week takeover of 2000AD by younger writers in 1993. Still a very divisive story to this day, but I love it.

Steve Parkhouse is a seriously underrated presence in British comics, and superb draftsman, caricaturist (have you ever seen a better Princess Di and Fergie?), and storyteller, both on the page and a writer (he does his own lettering too).

I'm told that, disappointed with the negative reaction from 2000AD's conservative readers, that he destroyed all the returned pages of 'Big Dave': which makes this grail seriously rare...

Great page. I find it very hard to believe that he destroyed his art because 2000ad readers did not get it. I think many enjoyed the story. A highpoint in a period of dross in 2000ad. Its probably stored in a folder. Like all the Charleys War art that was meant to have been destroyed and then showed up.

I forgot to add that his likenesses are cruelly funny. Great Queen mum. She never looked better. Lol.
