I have enjoyed Alan's art since I first saw it in the books Faeries (1978) and Castles (1982). I almost got a piece by him about 30 years ago (at a Worldcon if I remember correctly), but when I went to place my bid I noticed a friend's bid was already in place so I did not compete for the piece. My friend ended up getting the watercolor, of a robed woman standing in a boat, for $50 ... man those were the days.
Since work by Alan rarely becomes available I had to wait until this year to welcome a painting by Alan into my home. So very happy!
