Description

Missing one of my all time favorite artists and creators today, Darwyn Cooke.

While he was with us, I was lucky to meet him and chat at several cons. Always smiling and warm, happy to share a story and chat about anything. I never had a chance at a sketch from him, but he did do some color highlights in my first Parker hardcover in 2009, which is one of my most prized and favorite books. (additional photo)

Prior to his work on The Spirit, the character was largely not known by me, outside of historical context. But it turns out he was the perfect creator to bring him back. Another CAF member had this page for sale from the second volume of Darwyn�s work on the Spirit. It is the inks by J Bone and the final published page on a Spirit story he wrote and pencilled. A grail piece for sure. The seller sold it to me and generously donated 25% to the Hero Initiative and I LOVE that they did that.
