Description

Another Robert Maguire Prelim from “The House That Lived Again”. No, I’m not just collecting Robert Maguire (stay tuned) but I do like prelims of book covers from “better artists”. I’d still like to find one from one of his earlier crime books though. This particular prelim is cool in hand because its fairly finished and essentially a miniature painting.

Congrats on acquiring another great color comp. But hey, I wouldn't fault you if you DID only collect Maguire art!

I don't mind going heavy on it for a while, but I need to find different kinds of material for some variety. Like I say, I'd love to find some of his crime/noir or GGA stuff at a good price.

I get it. I was just kidding you because Maguire is my favourite vintage paperbacks artist. But as for find any crime/noir stuff, you'd be fortunate enough already. Also at a "good price" though? Good luck! Of course if you're referring to prelims and comps, then the toughest thing is finding it. The fact that they would be preliminary in nature would still keep them in the 3 figure range, and that's about as affordable as mid 20th century work by big name artists gets.
