DescriptionJust a fun Spider-Verse Bagley add today courtesy of inker John Dell!2 Scarlet Spiders in Ben Reilly and Kaine in a knock down drag out brawl. Nice fast paced action here with both getting some licks in. Kaine gets tossed through a window but turns the tables pretty quickly. Gotta love the dialogue (see additional published image)…Ben’s plan itself, ironically, gets tossed out the window! “Well. Crap.” :) It’s also pretty cool, from a pure nostalgia perspective, having Bagley’s rendition today of these 2 as it takes me back to his work in ‘90s ASM when Kaine first showed up…and yes…showed up to take down Ben. So just a cool connection there, and I’ve really come to like Kaine as a character, so I’m naturally down with getting more art featuring him! And stay tuned – got another nice piece from this arc I’ll be posting soon! Social/Sharing |

This whole page is amazing, but that top panel especially catches the eye. What an excellent background! And you know, that's right -- back in the '90s, we also had Kaine gunning after Ben Reilly. I guess they just have that kind of volatile relationship no matter what the circumstances or time period. Makes for some great battle scenes though! Congrats!

Man, what a beautiful action sequence. I love the attention to detail in that first panel especially, but the panel to panel flow of the storytelling is just so clean and precise. This is the type of art I love, great art, mixed with cheap cost! This is the type of stuff I always recommend newer collectors buy, if they're Spidey fans. Modern day Mark Bagley art provides so much bang for your buck, you really can't go wrong!

I'd agree, Ruben, these kind of pages are great because they have that mix of nice looking art for pure viewing purposes, some nostalgia, and at a lower price. Definitely a way to get that Spidey itch scratched, with a classic creator, without breaking the bank. As you say, also a way to get through what may be a perceived as a barrier to entry when it comes to starting OA collecting. For me, I love pinup-y stuff as much as anyone, but the same could be said for a nicely flowing panel page, and the latter, all else being equal, is definitely easier on the pocketbook :)

Why can't they be friends? They have so much in common!

"There can be only one." And by "only one" I mean only one Scarlet Spider. Not spider people in general - there are a lot of those :)

Somewhere the Undertaker is looking at this page with a smile on his face and a tear in his eye.
