Description

I am unable to help myself when it comes to these beautifully blue washed, Sickles influenced Terrys from '35 and '36. This is also from one of my favorite story lines and fills in the story with my other dailies from this saga. Rich Debutante Normandie falls for the rugged Pat Ryan and they are planning to get married. Normandie's scheming mother has other plans and has her kidnapped in the midldle of the night where she is wisked away under the guise of a medical emergency. The next time we see Normandie she is married to the most loathsome of Caniff's characters, the cowardly Sandhurst. Here Pat discovers Normandie is gone and this leads to one of my favorite Terry dailies where the heartbroken Pat sails off with Terry and Connie.

These blue washed strips have always fascinated me. Congrats on yet another great addition!

I love the pieces with blue wash, but here I have to say it may be too much of a good thing. of course in the printed version, you see shadow where the wash is laid down, but there is so much on this one that in my mind, it actually diminishes the line work of the original drawing. That is a rare thing for me to say, and I'd still love to have this piece, but its not my favorite from this period
